The women’s klapa Oršulice was founded in 2001. Its founders nameditafter the then oldest female inhabitant of Vodice, who was about to turn 100. In 1926, Oršula pledged her dowry to help purchase the instruments for the brass band of Vodice, which was founded in that same year. It was exactly this story that inspired the founding of Oršulice vocal group.
There are currently ten members of Oršulice, most of whom have been working together for six years. Their vocal expression is the traditional a cappella four-part singing, which they use to foster their cultural heritage and the sense of belonging to the region of Dalmatia.
Since they were joined by some members of the younger generation, their repertoire has expandedand now also includes their own interpretations of popular songs and evergreens. The klapa performs on various occasions, especially on national and religious holidays in their town, in the county and beyond. It has been awarded for the quality of klapa singing several times at international festivals (Verona – gold, Prague – silver, Perast - silver and bronze, Aurora Cantata - gold, Posušje - silver). They regularly participate at the Klapa Festival in Omiš and have become the finalists in the current composition (51st Festival of Dalmatian Klapas - Third Awardby the audience)
The members are joined by their shared true love for klapa singing, tradition and friendship.
For the past ten years the artistic director of Oršulice has been Professor Ivo Lise, who has always made sure that the quality of the klapa singing progresses continuously year after year.
