A cappella vocal group Mriža was founded in 2008 in Split as a group of friends who are in love with music, especially a cappella singing. Apart from a few minor changes in the structure, the klapa still consists of mainly its original members. The klapa's director is the reputable professor Jasminko Šetka.
Mriža fosters traditional, original a cappella singing, with a special affinity for the region of Split and Solin. By choosing songs from their region, they respect the origin of each klapa and accept the responsibility to keep and promote the songs of central Dalmatia and Split. At the same time, with their results and awards, Mriža has maintained the tradition of the renowned klapas from the region.
Over the years, the group has performed at many events and happenings, and has cooperated with numerous reputable artists. At the Festival of Dalmatian klapas in Omiš, under the direction of professor Mirko Radan and later under professor Jasminko Šetka, Mriža accomplished a remarkable result by winning all awards by the audience and the third award by the Jury. Furthermore, in the first year after its founding, Mriža won the first award by the audience in the category of debut performers. For a number of years, the group has performed at the events that take place in the period of celebrations of St. Domnius, the patron saint of the city of Split. For the last two years, Mriža won the first and the second award by the Jury at the Festival of Klapas in Jelsa as well as double award by the audience, and the double award for the Best Performance of the original song.
